Password managers are very useful tools if you’re trying to protect your online accounts. This is because password managers help you generate and remember complex passwords that are difficult for hackers to try and guess, and while passwords aren’t the perfect security solution, it’s what we’ve got for now.

Now, as we are slowly moving towards a passwordless future, it looks like password manager 1Password has decided to embrace that. The platform has announced that come early 2023, they will be introducing support for passkeys, which will allow users to securely log into apps and websites without the need for a password.

In a way it’s kind of ironic given that 1Password is a tool that manages and remembers passwords on behalf of users. That being said, 1Password will be using what they’re calling Universal Sign On, which will be “better” than how passkeys are being implemented right now because it will allow for support for multiple platforms as well as syncing across devices.

This means that in theory, you should be able to sign on using 1Password’s solution on your iPhone, but also use the same method on a Windows PC, and then also on an Android tablet.
