The solution developed by the company can perhaps be compared to a specially designed crumb vacuum cleaner that can be attached to the wheels of cars. The device uses an electrostatic solution and uses the air flow generated by the rotating wheel to suck up the pieces of rubber before they can scatter on the road. The first versions can collect up to 60 percent of the rubber waste. The collected pieces can be reused, not as car tires, but in other fields of application.

The biggest strength of Tire Collective’s technology is that it can effectively bind particles smaller than 10 microns. Pieces of this size are the most harmful to our health and the environment.

For the development, the startup received the Terra Carta Design Lab innovation award, as well as the recognition of the same name from the international design competition, the James Dyson Award.
