Everything indicates that soon another big player will enter the market of desktop graphics cards. The Taiwanese company Acer, which is known, for example, from gaming laptops from the Predator series, has prepared protopic GPU systems from the top shelf, which Steve Burke (GamersNexus) had the opportunity to get acquainted with. It is possible that the manufacturer wants to fill the gap that emerged after EVGI withdrew from this market segment.

So far, Acer has not officially confirmed that Predator desktop systems will be in stores any moment, although the presentation of prototypes clearly indicates that something must be in the works.

Acer has so far boasted two prototype units. The first one is the GeForce RTX 4090, which has an interesting cooling system with a built-in liquid cooler without an external radiator. The card’s heatsink is 22.4 cm wide and is cooled by two fans and two pumps on each side. A copper plate covers the GPU and VRAM, while the cooler also covers the VRM section on both sides of the GPU. It is worth noting that EVGA decided to use similar solutions at one time.

Steve Burke also had the opportunity to look at the proprietary Radeon graphics card based on the RDNA 3 architecture (RX 7900 XTX or RX 7900 XT). This unit has a slightly more classic design. The whole thing has three fans and is distinguished by two standard 8-pin power connectors (it is worth noting that there is a place for a third such port next to it).
So far, Acer has not officially confirmed that these systems will be available in stores at any moment, although the presentation of the prototypes clearly indicates that something must be up. It seems that the Predator desktop units will be distinguished by a subdued design in dark colors. We hope to hear more about Acer’s entry into the GPU market soon.
