The first performance test of the AMD Radeon RX 7900M mobile graphics system has appeared online. It performs slightly better than the competing solution in the form of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU.

AMD Radeon RX 7900M was tested in the popular 3DMark Time Spy benchmark. In the graphics test, the top RDNA 3 laptop chip scored 19,743 points, which places it slightly above the competing NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU (approximately 18,900 – 19,000 points depending on the laptop) with a power of up to 175 W. The difference is small, but it shows that (at least in rasterization) the top Radeon RX 7900M can actually achieve very high (for current notebooks) performance in many games. The tested laptop is Dell Alienware m18, so far the only one in which the discussed RDNA 3 system will appear.

AMD Radeon RX 7900M uses the NAVI 31 core, in which 72 CU blocks are active, which translates into the presence of 4608 stream processors. In addition, we also get 72 2nd generation RT cores, 192 ROP units and 288 TMU units. The core clock in Game mode reaches 1825 MHz, while the maximum Boost clock reaches 2090 MHz. The system also has 16 GB of GDDR6 memory (up to 18 Gbps) on a 256-bit bus, which translates into a bandwidth of up to 576 GB/s. For comparison, the GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU has 12 GB of GDDR6 memory (also up to 18 Gbps) on a 192-bit bus, which translates into a bandwidth of 432 GB/s.
