AMD Ryzen 5 7600, AMD Ryzen 7 7700 and AMD Ryzen 9 7900 are new processors whose main task is to increase the sales of the AM5 platform. The AMD Ryzen 7000 family is not as popular as its predecessors, so at the beginning of 2023 the manufacturer decided to enrich the offer. Recently, cheaper motherboards have appeared, but now weaker processors are debuting, which, however, differ only slightly from the versions marked with the letter X. The knowledgeable user will quickly regain the factory reduced performance, so at least here the profitability of the purchase will improve significantly. We will check it today by testing the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 – the cheapest processor for the AM5 platform.

Processors AMD Ryzen 7000 codenamed Raphael, represent the next step in the development of the Zen architecture, introducing the new AM5 (LGA1718) platform with support for DDR5 and PCI-Express 5.0 standards. The cores were made in the 5 nm process (previously 7 nm), while the I/O containing the remaining elements uses 6 nm lithography (previously 12 nm). Another fundamental change is the addition of an integrated Radeon graphics chip based on the RDNA 2 architecture, which the predecessors were completely deprived of except for the G / PRO series. However, the structure of the processors themselves has not undergone major changes – CCD modules with up to eight cores are still used, and the whole is connected by an internal Infinity Fabric bus. Separate RAM, IMC and IF clock domains also function invariably, but the synchronous mode (1: 1) will be possible even with DDR5-6000 MHz (Intel Alder Lake need 1:2 here). AMD declares an additional 30% increase in IPC over its predecessors due to the reconstruction of the front end, expanding the command queue, doubling the L2 cache, improving FP32 operations, decoders and AVX-512 instructions. High clock speeds of up to 5850 MHz on a single core (at appropriate temperatures) also have a huge share in improving performance.
AMD Ryzen 5 7600 is a cheaper and slightly weaker version of the Ryzen 5 7600X model, but the difference is limited only to timings that can be quickly equalized thanks to the unlocked multiplier.
The difference between the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 and the Ryzen 5 7600X is cosmetic and limited only to core clocking, but thanks to the unlocked multiplier, you can quickly regain the factory truncated performance. It is then unnecessary to even change the supply voltage, because in both cases it was almost identical, it was enough to manually set the appropriate multipliers. Like its older siblings, the described AMD Ryzen 5 7600 uses a single CCD module that contains six physical cores, while the SMT technique provides support for twelve threads simultaneously. The processor also has 32 MB of L3 cache, the capacity of which is directly related to the use of one CCD module. After all, the configuration of the Ryzen 5 family has remained unchanged since the model days 1600/1600X, where the competition made noticeable progress in the same period with the help of E-Cores and hybrid construction, which is implemented by cheaper processors belonging to the Intel Core 13 GEN family. Here, AMD Ryzen 5 7600 will soon meet a worthy opponent.

What RAM for the AMD Ryzen 7950X CPU? G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 6000MHz CL30 DDR5 kit test
Returning to the previously mentioned timings, which are the only discrepancy in the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 and Ryzen 7600X specifications, it looks like this – 4950/5150 and 5300-5500 MHz. The difference is therefore 350 MHz in the case of single and multi-threaded loads, although the final frequencies also depend on the cooling used. The dual-channel DDR5-5200 MHz RAM controller, support for the PCI-Express 5.0 interface and the integrated graphics system based on the RDNA2 architecture, placed in a separate I/O module together with other controllers, remain unchanged. The starting price of the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 is much nicer, because instead of $ 299 we will pay $ 229, which is theoretically a chance to get this processor around PLN 1,000. The main opponent of the AMD Ryzen 5 7600 will be Intel Core i5-12400F, noticeably cheaper than the hero of this review, but literally in a moment there will be a more powerful Intel Core i5-13400F, which has Efficient cores added. Together with the performance, however, the competitor’s price will increase, so ultimately AMD Ryzen 5 7600 should be somewhere between them …
