During the night of Polish time, AMD presented the new generation of Ryzen processors from the Phoenix APU family (Ryzen 7040) and the Dragon Range CPU (Ryzen 7045). The Phoenix APUs will introduce new Zen 4 cores and integrated RDNA 3 graphics, as well as an improved DDR5 and LPDDR5X memory controller, while the Dragon Range will offer up to 16 Zen 4 cores in two chipsets. However, as it has been known for a long time, which we have written about ourselves many times, the Ryzen 7000 series is not only a new generation, but also a surprisingly large number of refreshed models. We look at their specifications.
We discuss the specification of AMD Ryzen 7030 and Ryzen 7035 processors, which belong to the refreshed APU Barcelo and APU Rembrandt series.
AMD APU Phoenix and Dragon Range – presentation of the new generation of Ryzen processors for laptops – Zen 4 and up to RDNA 3 on board
About AMD Mendocino APUs we wrote already last year, when these units were officially announced. Here, however, we will focus on processors from the Ryzen 7030 family (APU Barcelo Refresh) and Ryzen 7035 (APU Rembrandt Refresh). The Ryzen 7030 series consists of three models: AMD Ryzen 7 7730U, Ryzen 5 7530U and Ryzen 3 7330U. Interestingly, the first of these systems will receive a more powerful Radeon Vega graphics chip with 12 CU blocks in TSMC’s 7nm lithography. There was no such unit before, so it’s a novelty compared to the APUs from previous years, where, after switching to TSMC N7, we had Vega with 8 CU at our disposal. All processors work with the PCIe 3.0 bus and TDP 15 W.

AMD Ryzen 7020 – new APU series with Zen 2 cores and RDNA 2 graphics for cheaper laptops
Rembrandt has also been refreshed (now as Rembrandt Refresh), which should finally hit cheaper devices this year. Here we are dealing with up to 8 Zen 3+ cores and 16 threads in TSMC N6 lithography. The AMD Ryzen 7 7736U and Ryzen 7 7735U systems use the integrated AMD Radeon 680M graphics chip with 12 CU RDNA 2 blocks. There is a lot of confusion in the case of Ryzen 5 7535U and Ryzen 3 7335U. Aside from the name of the Ryzens, both models offer an iGPU with exactly the same designation – Radeon 660M – the first has 6 CU RDNA 2 blocks, and the second – only 4. This will probably introduce additional confusion (as if the names of the processors were not enough ). With the exception of the AMD Ryzen 7 7736U, the other Rembrandt Refresh systems work with a TDP of 28 W by default. to do.
