1988 directed by Rajasekhar and starring Pandiyarajan, Urvashi, Manorama and many others was the Sema Mass film Patti Sollai Thattathe. Let’s see what producer AVM Saravanan has to say about the making of this film.
After I became the Production Executive, the first film produced in our company was Maamiyar Mechiya Marumalam. Released on 23.11.1959. But the film was not successful.
I’m sorry. But to make up for this failure, I decided to take a similar subject and make a huge hit.
The film that fulfills that promise is Patti Kol Ta Tede. Once Gangai Amaran wanted to make a film for us.
I expressed my desire to make a film to make up for the failure of Maamiyar Mechiya Marumaal. It was planned to be directed by Ganga Amaran and composed by Ilayaraja. But it didn’t work out.
Chitralaya Gobu Battam Piluthu was written for Chennai TV and was rejected. That is the story, don’t knock the grandmother’s word. In this film, the mother-in-law-grandson sentiment worked out well, as it was done on the basis of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship.
My grandmother – mother’s mother. I love it so much. I love him more than that. Grandmother loves her grandson more. In the film Patty Kolay Thatade, the grandmother has a lot of affection for her grandson.
We used a strange car in this film. We split into two while running and set them up to run independently. All this technology belongs to my son Kugan.
Kugan was created by buying a Volkswagen and splitting it in half. The car was created with an auto rickshaw engine at the front. The name of that car is Supercar.
We put a scene where Manorama fights in the film. He did not easily agree to act in it. No fight scenes Achi. Many people in our field were discouraging Manorama in various ways. That was the reason for his hesitation.
Achi himself came to me and asked brother if it would be good for me to fight. I asked if you can do it. Why…not? He said with confidence that I will do it. then what? I said you fight.
Manorama was whitewashed in the fight scene. The car and Aachi’s flamboyant fight scenes impressed everyone.
The TV commercials we produced and aired with 10 seconds of the car splitting in two and the achi stick spinning scene struck a chord with young and old alike. The film was a huge success and celebrated its silver jubilee.
The artist said this at the ceremony. Once when I was out of town, there was a crowd of people in a place. The place itself was bustling. Thinking that it was a meeting held by other parties, I inquired which party it was.
The patty kol tapade was brought for the supercar show and was parked there. The film is not big budget. But victory is a great victory. This movie fulfilled my determination and gave me double happiness.
