Gaming handhelds are becoming more and more popular, but most new models are based on the Microsoft Windows 11 operating system. This, in turn, may not always provide a good experience with the devices in question, because it is adapted to a different segment of equipment. That’s why Steam Deck with its SteamOS wins in this respect. However, a new product is coming to the market that will compete with it in this field.
AYANEO NEXT LITE may turn out to be quite an interesting alternative to Steam Deck, as it will be the first competitive handheld to run on the SteamOS system.
AMD Ryzen 7 8840U – the new generation of Hawk Point will soon appear in two handhelds from GPD and AYANEO
AYANEO offers quite a lot of handhelds like Steam Deck, but none of them has ever had SteamOS on board (as is the case with all competing devices). The company decided to slightly refresh the NEXT model currently on the market, which was based on APU systems from AMD from the Cezanne-U family. This time we will also get a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The battery will be a 47 Wh cell, and the handheld will also be able to use analog sticks based on Hall effect sensors. According to the manufacturer, the design ensures an ergonomic grip.
AYANEO Flip DS – a handheld that brings the acclaimed Nintendo DS console back to life. The first such device in a long time
We have a 3.5 mm Audio-Jack socket, two USB Type-C ports, and a microSD memory card slot. At the moment, we do not know the full specifications or price, and these aspects will be key when considering the purchase of the device. However, the fact that the manufacturer decided to use SteamOS can be considered an undoubted advantage, because in the case of Microsoft software we cannot count on such trouble-free operation. The steps taken by AYANEO should have a positive impact on the final price, after all, the Valve system is free. However, we have to wait a little longer for more information.
