Deus Ex - the new part of the series from Eidos Montreal was supposed to be canceled. Embracer Group has organized further cutsThe new version of the cult series, which probably laid stronger foundations for immersive sims than any other, should theoretically be doomed to failure. However, when Deus Ex: Human Revolution was released in 2011, the narrative changed quite significantly. This hit was followed by a sequel, Mankind Divided, but it was disappointing in some respects. So much so that fans are still waiting for the next chapter of Adam Jensen’s broken story.

According to Bloomberg, despite several years of development, the next Deus Ex was canceled by Embracer Group.

Deus Ex – the actor playing Adam Jensen spoke about a possible continuation of the series

The games of this franchise have had different reception over the decades, and of course there have been longer breaks between subsequent installments, but it is still more than a solid brand. For this reason, no one should be particularly surprised that in 2022, among others, Jason Shreier talked about the alleged creation of a new part. These rumors were probably confirmed, but unfortunately in a not very cheerful context. It looks like the Embracer group she canceled design.

Pure Retro #2 – Deus Ex. What if the conspiracy theories of the 1990s were true? Genre fusion and total immersive sim

According to Schreier, the new Eidos Montreal game was in development for about two years and was soon to enter production mode. It seems that the news is rather true – not only because it is difficult to find a more reliable source than Bloomberg, but in the meantime Eidos posted a statement that sort of confirms everything. With the cancellation of such a major project, staff cuts were also suspected – and the company itself has only just confirmed it in an official message. 97 employees had to resign from their positions. The studio is now supposedly working on some completely different IP. Either way, this is another proof that Embracer is completely unable to cope with the current market situation, as this type of information in their context has become a regularly recurring topic (not to look too far, potential problems in Piranha Bytes). And well, if Deus Ex fans were hoping to receive an announcement of the new part soon, they will be severely disappointed.
