They concentrate on the production of machined plastic parts for surgical and diagnostic devices.
With an investment of around 5 million euros, the Swiss-based Europtec Kft. is building its fourth production hall at the seat of the county of Zala. The company producing plastic precision parts has been operating in Zalaegerszeg for 33 years, where it employs 180 workers. The third hall was handed over seven years ago, and after the current construction, the fourth will be inaugurated in the summer.
The company’s managing director, Gábor Belső, said: they entered the health industry ten years ago; the new investment is entirely intended for the production of machined plastic parts for surgical and diagnostic devices. The cost of the 2,500-square-meter production hall is about 5 million euros, but the total value of the related investment, planned over six years, will be 12 million euros.
For the investment, the HIPA National Investment Agency and the Hungarian state received one billion forints in support. The new production lines allow an increase in the number of 80-100 people.
As is known, the business tax collected in Zalaegerszeg was HUF 3.2 billion ten years ago, which rose to HUF 7.5 billion last year. The unemployment rate has decreased from 7.5 percent at the time to 2.5 percent today, so now the challenge in the city is to find the right workforce.
Europtec Kft.’s net sales in 2022 were HUF 4.55 billion, and its profit after tax was HUF 740 million.
