FOSSiBOT DT1 review - Cheap tablet in an armored casing. SIM card support, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB built-in memory Nowadays, we mainly use smartphones for entertainment purposes, and when we want to watch a movie, we turn to the TV. However, there is another group of devices that can successfully complement or even replace both devices mentioned above, namely tablets. There are a lot of devices on the market in virtually every price range, but many of them are not worth the money or offer outdated components that will only cause problems. However, it often happens that less known brands introduce attractively priced equipment to the market that meet the expectations of most users. At first glance, this is what the title tablet FOSSiBOT DT1 seems to be like. The manufacturer is not very recognizable in our country, but it offers devices that compete with others mainly in price. Most of them have an armored casing and this is also the case here.

FOSSiBOT DT1 This is one of three tablets offered by the manufacturer in question. From 2022, its activities will focus mainly on equipment from the additional power sources segment, while its portfolio includes the above-mentioned armored tablets and smartphones. The hero of this test is distinguished primarily by its strong construction, a very capacious battery cell and a decent capacity of both RAM and built-in memory. In addition, we are talking about a device that currently costs much less than a thousand zlotys. Of course, in the case of Chinese devices, it often happens that in terms of specifications, everything looks very good, but the actual operation… leaves much to be desired. This test will show the true face of the FOSSiBOT DT1 tablet and answer the standard question that is asked when considering the purchase of any device: “is it worth buying?”.

FOSSiBOT DT1 may be an interesting tablet option for many people. The device offers quite good specifications and is reasonably priced. This review will allow us to assess whether it is worth purchasing this equipment.

Technical Specifications

The tablet is quite well equipped for its price range. We get as much as 8 GB of RAM in the LPDDR4 standard, as well as 256 GB of flash memory, which can be further expanded using a microSD memory card. The MediaTek MT8788 processor (debut in early 2018) is responsible for the device’s performance, which, in addition to standard cores, also includes a unit responsible for AI-related calculations. In terms of performance, we are dealing with a system that almost catches up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor. The parameters of the screen itself also look decent, but this issue will be discussed in more detail later. Certainly one of the biggest advantages of the device is the battery, because we are dealing with a cell with a capacity of 11,000. mAh. In addition, we can count on making voice calls because we have a slot for two nano SIM cards. When taking a tablet on a trip, we will use several satellite navigation systems. Four speakers with a peak power of 2 W will be useful for entertainment. Thanks to its design, the tablet is protected against dust, water and even a stronger fall.

Set contents

The tablet comes to us in a fairly standard orange box, which makes it stand out from other devices. Inside you will find the device itself, a USB Type-C cable, an 18 W charger, documentation, and a needle for ejecting the tray for microSD and nano SIM memory cards. It is worth noting that the screen has been covered with foil since new. The first layer contains information about the specifications, but when we remove it, our device will remain with the factory-applied protective foil. The content of the set is quite classic, but it provides us with all the necessary elements.
