Galaxy Watch 4 Units Receive Software Fix for Bricking Issue – Phandroid

Samsung has released a new software patch for its Galaxy Watch 4 series wearables, which brings some bug fixes as well as the November 2022 system update. The new patch also addresses the bricking issue from a while back, which rendered a number of Galaxy Watch 4 units unusable after updating to the previous update.

The new update is available for Galaxy Watch 4 and 5 devices in the US and several other regions, with a firmware version ending with GVK4. Likewise, Indian variants of the watch have also received a new update which comes with software version number R8xxXXU1GVK4.

Previously, there were complaints that update version number R8xxXXU1GVI3 for the Galaxy Watch 4 resulted in some users ending up with bricked and unusable units after updating. The problem affected Galaxy Watch 4 owners in different regions, along with the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. As it so happens, once the update was installed and the watch is turned off, the device will fail to turn back on again.

With that said, some users have reported zero problems with the previous firmware update, although the newer software patch should help Galaxy Watch owners experiencing the bricking problem.
