Gallo India Youth Games are being held in the state of Madhya Pradesh. This series started on January 30 and will continue till February 11. More than 5,000 players from 28 states and 8 union territories of India have participated in it.

Gallo India Youth Games 2018 was created by the Central Government to generate interest in sports among the youth. Accordingly, every year in the month of January and February, sports competitions are held in India. In this way, the fifth Gallo India Youth Games started on January 30th and is going on briskly.

It has 27 sports competitions including athletics, kabaddi, hockey volleyball, cocoa, yogasana.

By the end of the seventh day,

Maharashtra state tops the medal list with 83 medals.

The Tamil Nadu team is at the 9th position with a total of 23 medals including 7 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.

Varun Uri Manohar from Tamil Nadu won gold in 200 meters race. Earlier, he had won bronze for the Tamil Nadu team in the 100m hurdle race. Ratheesh Panditurai also won gold in men’s 110m hurdles.

Tamil Nadu’s Abhinaya Sri won the gold in triple jump with a distance of 12.05 meters. So far Tamil Nadu team has won a total of seven medals including four gold, one silver and four bronze in athletics. Tamil Nadu got its first gold in Yogasana Games held on February 2.

Tamil Nadu has got three medals in Yogasana namely one gold, one silver and one bronze.

Tamil Nadu players also won one silver and one bronze in cycling. Also got a bronze in Boxing. They have won a silver medal each in Badminton and Basketball.

In the much anticipated Kabaddi tournament, the Tamil Nadu Kabaddi team disappointed by going out in the quarter finals.
