Google Pay Enables Limited International Payments For US Users

Users in the US who send international payments can now use Google Pay for this. Android Central is reporting that Google Pay international payments are now possible. Thanks to a partnership with Western Union and Wise this is now possible. Now, you do not have to worry about running to a physical Western Union location.

Google made the announcement of this new feature and partnership Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Now, the list of places you can send money is a tad bit limited. US Google Pay users can now send money from their smartphones to either India or Singapore.

Hopefully, you had plans to send money to someone in one of those countries. If not, you will have to wait for more countries to be added. Of course, as time goes on more and more countries will be added. The way users send money overseas is a pretty simple affair.

Google Pay international payments are only available to US users

Simply go into Google Pay, go to the person you want to send money to, and then select Pay. From that point, you choose a payment method you want to use. At that point, you will be given two choices. You will be able to send your funds using Western Union or Wise.

There are a couple of cool perks with sending money internationally. Firstly, users will be able to send unlimited payments internationally until June 16 so that is cool. Secondly, the first payment of up to $500 is also free. However, to get that second perk you have to be a new Wise customer.

Google brought this new feature to Google Pay to make it easier for people to send money back home. The world is still being affected by the pandemic. As a result, some people are still affected by the travel restrictions. This should help families to support each other if they are separated.

Again though, the feature only works in the U.S., India, and Singapore. But, it is better than nothing. Users in those three countries will have to be using the latest update of the Google Pay app to take advantage of this.

In addition, only users in the U.S. can send payments so far. Google says that the U.S. sends the most outbound payments, and India receives the most inbound.  Despite this, the feature is still useful and will only get better as more countries are added and the ability to send money expands.
