How to add wireless charging to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite – Phandroid

Xiaomi has had an interesting year so far, with release of the Xiaomi Mi 11 lineup along with showing off the Mi Mix Fold. While the Mi 11 Ultra is an obvious choice for phone of the year, the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite is no slouch, as it offers a fantastic design paired with great mid-range specs. But while we have 33W fast wired charging, there’s no wireless charging onboard, which has become a necessity for some.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite Review: Standing out from the crowd

Wireless charging is one of the most convenient features that a phone can include, but it still isn’t found on many mid-range or budget devices. Fortunately, you can add wireless charging to the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite, spending just a few extra dollars in the process.

Quickly searching Amazon for wireless charging adapters, will show many different results. Some of these are built-in batteries, while others are simply a Qi wireless charging pad that attaches to your phone via the USB-C charger. For the most part, you’ll get at least 5W wireless charging speeds, but here are some that push the limits up to what you would find in most smartphones today.

How does it work?

While many flagship smartphones feature wireless charging already, mid-range and budget phones aren’t so lucky. We’ve been using these wireless charging adapters for years now, as wireless charging is just an easier way to keep your phone juiced up. And when you find the right one that works for you, it can become something that you just forget about and just throw your phone on any wireless charger.

Here’s how to set up the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite with a wireless charging adapter:

  1. Remove the charging adapter from its packaging.
  2. Plug the wireless charging adapter into the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite’s USB-C port
  3. Wrap the wireless charging coil around the back of the phone
  4. Secure it in place with your favorite Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite case
  5. Place the phone on a Qi wireless charger and it will start charging

One thing to keep an eye on when you purchase an adapter is its charging speeds. Most of the time, you won’t find something below 5W, as many of the options come with 7.5W charging speeds. But there are also some adapters that provide up to 10W charging speeds, which may be better for those who want to get more juice, faster.

And while the charging speeds won’t be as fast as what you’ll find when using wired charging, it’s actually beneficial. Slower charging speeds means that you battery won’t degrade nearly as quickly as if you were to use the wire.

Find a wireless charger

In order to complete the ensemble, you’re going to want to grab a wireless charging pad or stand. These also vary in the amount of wattage produced, but most of these top out around 15W, which should cover any of the charging adapters that you pick up.
