The solution developed for livestock keepers was trained on data collected since the fall of 2021, and then tested on four farms in Kumamoto prefecture in southwestern Japan starting last February.

The AI-based birth detector costs farmers 900,000 yen, or roughly HUF 2.1 million, per year, which is not a small amount of money, but in return they can monitor up to 100 animals with it, and the smartphone companion application can warn up to 5 hours before birth.


One of the farmers involved in the experiment, Keita Higuchi, said that the artificial intelligence system is a huge help to him, because they give birth to approximately 60 calves a year on their farm, and in this case, in the month before birth, they have to personally check every few hours whether it has arrived yet. time.
