Major Sundarajan accepted Sivaji as his guru in Tamil cinema. Although accepted as a spiritual guru, Sivaji and Major acted together only in Motor Sundaram Pillai. After the film Major Motor Sundaram Pillai, who had been playing the role till then, he started acting in most of Sivaji’s films.

So much so that he got to know Shivaji in the very first film and that made both of them good friends. Major’s involvement in all events involving Shivaji was high. When Sivaji took over as the president of the Actors Association, Major was appointed as the Secretary of the Actors Association.

Tamil cinema started seeing both of them together. The performance of both in the film Ushresh Manman was well received. An incident took place to put an end to their friendship which was going so well.

Major has no interest in politics. But as a result of Shivaji starting his own party, Major joined that party as well. The reason was his friendship with Shivaji. Shivaji formed an alliance in support of Janaki and contested the general elections.
But Shivaji did not win a single place. Shivaji took this as an insult and withdrew from the Major Party, thinking it was the result of his joining the party. Shivaji’s defeat would lead to the talk that Major quit. But since then Shivaji stopped talking to the Major wondering if the Major had done this regardless of all that. The rift continued till Shivaji’s death. Neither of them spoke. Chitra Lakshmanan gave this interesting information.
