There are companies that expect a second round of wage increases this year.
More companies had salary increases than were planned at the beginning of the year: in January of this year, six out of ten companies calculated a salary increase for this year, by an average of 12.2 percent, at the same time, during the first half of the year, 76 percent of the salary increases have already taken place, and this number may still rise, as more than half of the employers indicated that a raise is possible by the end of the year – reported profession.hu.
According to the research, three-quarters of the respondents – which included micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as large companies – already raised their employee wages this year: 67 percent once, while 9 percent more than once. This rate exceeds the plans at the beginning of the year: in January, 62 percent of companies stated that they expected wage increases this year.
In the workplaces where there was already a salary increase this year, the most frequent increase (in every second company) was a maximum of 10 percent, but in 3 percent the rate exceeded 20 percent. There are companies (11 percent) where they expect a second round of wage increases this year. According to current data, salary increases can be expected in the second half of the year for companies offering mostly white-collar jobs, as well as for companies operating in the fields of heavy industry, machine manufacturing, administration and service support.
For the time being, more than half of the companies do not know for sure whether they will give a salary increase in 2023, they are waiting to make a decision, but more than a quarter of them have already decided that there will be no salary increase. 18 percent of the companies still plan: most of them would provide an amount not exceeding 10 percent, for 26 percent it could even reach a 30 percent increase.
About 3 percent of the companies did not raise wages this year and do not plan to in the next six months, the announcement reads.
