Broadly speaking, the Edge 40 Pro retains a good part of the aesthetic details of the previous generation, being the curved screen his main claim. And it is that on this occasion, all four screen edges curve outwardthus generating a more symmetrical appearance that is complemented by the reduced size from the edges surrounding the panel.
The screen is also where we find some of the most important news compared to previous generation models. It’s about a 6.67-inch diagonal pOLED type panel protected by Gorilla Glass Victus glass, with Full HD+ resolution and an impressive 165 hertz refresh ratethe highest view on a mobile in this category to date.
The body of the device combines glass and aluminum in a chassis 8.59 millimeters thick and 199 grams in weight, with a backside boasting a smooth matte finish with velvet effect, available in two colors: blue and black.
Motorola has endowed this smartphone with one of its most advanced camera systems to date. behind, inside a rectangular glass module with curved sides we found one 50 megapixel OmniVision OV50A main camera with optical stabilization and ultra-fast focus system. Next to her is a 50 megapixel camera associated with an ultra wide angle lensand a sensor 12 megapixels with 2 optical magnification telephoto addressed to capture portraits of great quality.
On the front side, Motorola once again bets on a high resolution sensor to take care of the selfies, and in this case we have 60 megapixels.
In addition to the innovations at a technical level, Motorola claims to have focused a good part of its efforts on refine the software which supports the camera system, not only by improving image processing, but also by adding some new features that were not available before. Among them, we find the following:
- video night vision: Allows you to lighten night videos while recording, increasing the amount of detail and improving clarity or colors.
- Horizon Lock Stabilization: Allows you to keep your shot stabilized by fixing the focus on the horizon while recording videos of high-motion activities. It even works when you rotate your smartphone up to 360 degrees during a scene.
- Video Auto Focus Tracking: Allows you to keep the subject in focus and clear throughout the video, even when there is movement.
- Video portrait: Adds a background blur effect behind the subject being recorded.
The Edge 40 Pro is the company’s first terminal to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, Qualcomm’s most powerful to date. It is associated with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. All this, backed by a 4600 mAh capacity battery with support for 125W fast charging using the charger included in the box, compatible with the USB-PD standard. It is also compatible with wireless charging and reverse wireless chargingbeing able to reach powers of 15 and 5 W respectively.
The version of the system that runs inside the Motorola Edge 40 Pro is Android 13 in one of its cleanest variants and closest to “stock” Android. We only found a few touches typical of Motorola, such as support for the Ready For platform or Lenovo’s ThinkShield suite of security services.
In this sense, it should be mentioned that Motorola ensures that the Edge 40 Pro will receive a minimum of three major updates of the operating system, and that you will receive security updates every two months for a minimum of five years from its date of release to the market.
The Motorola Edge 40 Pro also incorporates a stereo audio system with double loudspeaker, accompanied by Dolby Atmos certified and spatial audio. The IP68 protection against water and dust neither him fingerprint readerintegrated under the screen.
