New leak confirms display and camera specs for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 – Phandroid

With the Samsung Unpacked event right around the corner, it’s time for even more leaks to make their rounds for the upcoming devices. Earlier today, we heard that Samsung will be launching a “Note Pack” for the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This is said to include a case and S Pen, but the case is designed to store your S Pen when it’s not in use.

Now, Evan Blass (@evleaks) is getting in on the action, confirming a few more details about both the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. According to Blass, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 will sport a 6.7-inch primary display, to go along with a 1.9-inch cover display. This lines up with other leaks that we’ve seen, as Samsung aims to make the Z Flip’s cover display a bit more useful than last year’s model.

As for the Z Fold 3’s display, we’ll have a 7.6-inch main folding display, along with a 6.2-inch cover display. It’s clear now that previous rumors regarding a smaller cover display for the Fold 3 have proved to be unfounded, as Samsung will be sticking with the same size for its foldable flagship.

Key camera details have been revealed for both the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. As for the Flip, we’ll have dual 12MP lenses, which will be disguised in a piece of glass that also houses the cover display. Meanwhile, the Z Fold 3 will sport a triple camera setup, as expected, with three 12MP lenses. We’re expecting to see a wide-angle primary lens along with an ultrawide sensor and a telephoto camera.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is also expected to be Samsung’s first device to feature an under-display camera found on the main folding screen. According to Blass, this will be a 4MP sensor, although we aren’t exactly sure what this will look like just yet. The Flip 3 will make use of a 10MP selfie camera but is expected to be a traditional hole-punch camera instead of using the under-display camera.

Finally, Blass has again confirmed recent leaks pointing to an IPX8 water resistance rating. Given that one of the biggest complaints from last year’s crop of folding phones was the durability, this should give folks some hope for a durable foldable. The IPX8 rating paired with S Pen support shows that Samsung is dedicated to making these phones more durable as the company tries to take foldable smartphone into the mainstream.
