After adding some nifty new features such as unlimited live streams, the ability to remove captions from media, animated emoji, and more with the previous update, Telegram is back with a new update bundling tons of new features.

Telegram is rolling out update version 8.0.1 for its messaging application. The new update adds multiple features, including individual chats customization option, read receipts in groups, function to record video/audio from live streams, and others.

Amidst these features, one of the most important features that this new Telegram 8.0.1 update is the introduction of new chat themes. Using this feature, users can personalize the design language of each individual chat.

There are apparently eight themes to choose from, each also comes with gradient message bubbles. On top of this, these themes also include animated and unique background patterns.

The introduction of chat themes will give a personal touch to each of the individual chats you have on your Telegram messenger application. In order to set a theme, you need to navigate over to Chat Header > Change colors. More themes will be added in the future.

Telegram 8.0.1 is rolling out on the stable channel and is available on the Play Store

Animated emojis, including heart, thumbs up, and firecrackers are now more interactive with Telegram 8.0.1. These animated emojis show a full-screen effect, which would really liven up your chats.

Moreover, if chats are live on both ends, then the animations and vibrations will play for both the sender and recipient simultaneously.

The read receipts feature in groups is also getting a big change. Once the user sends a message in a group, it will be marked as “read” as soon as one member reads it. Previously, all members of the group needed to read the message. Only then the message would be marked as “read.”

Additionally, you can now long-press any message you sent in a group to view how many members have read it. Last but not least, admins can now also record live streams or video chats.

There are more granular controls for the admins. Notably, they can choose whether they wish to record both video or audio or only audio. After the recording is stopped, the file will be automatically and instantly uploaded in the Saved Messages.

The Telegram 8.0.1 is rolling out via the stable channel and is available to download from the Google Play Store. It is available for iOS users as well.
