NGM: the Entrepreneurship Development Program starts with a series of large-scale national informative events

Artificial intelligence will also play an important role in the roadshow.

The Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) is launching a nationwide series of events for entrepreneurs as part of the Entrepreneurship Development Program implemented with several outstanding cooperation partners, based on the government-chamber agreement with entrepreneurs in the Association.

The main theme of the program supported by NGM will be the business development priority of the Economic Development and Innovation Operative Program Plusz (GINOP Plusz), as well as the preparation of domestic businesses to comply with the reporting obligation related to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance).

The NGM is launching support programs for businesses financed by European Union funds within the framework of the business development priority of GINOP Plusz. These programs simultaneously help the development of internationally successful Hungarian enterprises and the stable operation of the entrepreneurial layer that provides a livelihood for a significant part of society.

After the crisis management period of the past years, an economic expansion phase follows, and as a means of this, it is necessary to ensure that the corporate sector is adequately supplied with funds. The call for tenders appearing in the next period will focus on technological and organizational renewal, as well as support for digitization and energy efficiency investments related to the activity to be developed.

In recent years, there has been a demand for companies on a global level to operate transparently and, in addition to maximizing their profits, to keep in mind the protection of natural and environmental values, as well as the impact of the products they manufacture and distribute on society. All of these aspects formed the basis for the development of ESG, the purpose of which is to monitor the non-financial risks and opportunities inherent in the everyday activities of businesses.

On December 12, 2023, the Hungarian Parliament adopted the 2023 CVIII. law (the so-called ESG framework law), which entered into force on January 1, 2024. With the adoption of the law, Hungary is also at the forefront of EU member states in defining the framework for domestic ESG reporting in accordance with EU rules. The obligation to report related to ESG plays an increasingly prominent role in supply chains through large companies, and therefore also affects the Hungarian SME sector. In view of this, it is important to prepare domestic SMEs to comply with the criteria.

The aim of the government is to make the most important information available to them with the cooperation of MKIK. Máté Lóga, the State Secretary responsible for economic strategy, financial resources and macroeconomic analysis of the Ministry of National Economy, emphasized in a statement that the task of the roadshow is to give businesses an overview of the business development goals, the support opportunities for them and the programs launched to transfer entrepreneurial skills, as well as to make available to them the the most important information about ESG-related opportunities and obligations that affect them.

The NGM also touched on the fact that a practical guide to the use of artificial intelligence applications will be a priority topic of the Enterprise Development Program. According to many, the spread and development of artificial intelligence (AI) will bring about a greater change in our lives than what the Internet and digitization have brought together so far. Everyone is interested in the new AI-based technologies, but few of us really understand what we will actually be able to use these new opportunities for in everyday life. This is also true in the world of businesses, especially SMEs.

The national program series is for them, which answers questions such as, among other things, how companies can benefit from adapting new technology as soon as possible, and what development and financing opportunities are available to them.

Gergely Fábián, NGM’s state secretary responsible for industrial policy and technology, emphasized that one of the most important tasks of the roadshow is to present the user manual of artificial intelligence applications in a way that is understandable to the public, through practical examples, in all regional centers of the country. The Artificial Intelligence Coalition, with nearly five hundred member organizations and a thousand members, contributes to the high professional standard of the program – added the state secretary.

The series of events, which will be held in Budapest and about ten other rural towns, will begin in mid-April. The organizers will soon provide detailed information about the programs for businesses – the NGM drew attention.
