The folks at OWC have today announced the new miniStack STX, a storage and Thunderbolt hub solution for Apple’s Mac mini. The accessory is stackable and is designed to live beneath a Mac mini, offering it more storage and additional ports in the process.

With prices starting at $299 for the barebones version and with fully kitted-out options featuring 14TB of HDD and 4TB of NVMe M.2 SSD storage also available, this little bit of kit should be suited to everyone. Inside you’ll find space for any 3.5-inch HDD, while an NVMe M.2 SSD can also be fitted for those who need a little more speed.

The miniStack STX isn’t all about adding storage space, though. Those on the hunt for more ports are catered for as well.

With a universal SATA HDD/SSD bay AND an NVMe M.2 PCIe SSD slot, you can expand your mini’s storage capacity to gigantic proportions. Three Thunderbolt (USB-C) ports enable you to connect to millions of Thunderbolt, USB, and future USB4 drives, displays, A/V mixers, cameras and tablets; as well as desktop accessories like a keyboard, card reader, or mouse. Now the possibilities of how you can use your Mac mini are limited only to your imagination.

Don’t have a Mac mini? No problem, the miniStack STX is also designed to work just fine with notebooks, tablets, and more. It’s small and sleek enough to disappear no matter the setup.

The Mac mini is already one of the best Macs around for all kinds of use cases and workflows, but it does lack in terms of storage and ports. This little thing fixes that in one rather attractive little box.

Those keen to pick one of these things up for their own desk can place a pre-order now over on the OWC website. OWC says people should expect delivery in the middle of December.
