Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite - ARM system tested in the game Baldur's Gate 3. A worthy rival for the AMD Radeon 780M is being preparedWe are still waiting for the first devices to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip. However, there are already many videos on the Internet that partially show what kind of performance we can expect from it. It turns out that the new American chip will be able to compete with the AMD Radeon 780M graphics system in terms of performance in video games. The showpiece title was Baldur’s Gate 3.

There are many indications that the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite system may prove to be a strong rival on the market also in terms of video games. The unit was tested in Control and Baldur’s Gate 3.

Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite has been prepared to support video games, at least that’s what the manufacturer claims

So far, we have seen the results of the discussed system from many benchmarks, which indicate that the new Qualcomm unit often performs better than the AMD Radeon 780M graphics system (3DMark Wild Life Extreme), and also beats the Apple M2 SoC in gaming. Now, a video has appeared that presents the performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip in Baldur’s Gate 3. The production is running on a test laptop at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, and the frame counter is around 30 FPS. The author claims that the title is completely playable. However, it should be borne in mind that no specific information regarding graphic settings or the power consumption of the system itself has been provided. We are also talking about an early (probably) version of the software, so we can assume that the chip will ultimately provide slightly better performance.

On the Internet we can also see how the system performs in the Control game. Unfortunately, most of the details were missing this time, but the test platform was able to provide over 30 fps throughout the entire performance measurement period (Full HD). So this is going to be quite an interesting alternative, the success of which will depend largely on how it is valued. We can mention support for DirectX 12 or Vulkan libraries. Running games on an ARM processor can be done in three ways: emulation of the x86/x64 architecture, inclusion of software written for ARM64 (natively) or via ARM64EC (Emulation Compatible – a kind of hybrid). The first devices equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite system should appear on the market in mid-2024, so soon.
