Razer Refreshed Its Raptor Monitor And Added THX-Certified Visuals

As part of its first-ever E3 keynote this year, Razer introduced a few new products including a new Raptor monitor. Razer is refreshing the Raptor and giving it some new features, although the monitor itself is sticking with the same overall design as the older model.

That is to say it still comes with a 27-inch display, and all of the ports are on the back. Complete with built-in cable management to keep your gaming setup nice and tidy. The other familiar features are all there. The matte black color, the RGB lighting effects for maximum gamer aesthetic, and the edge-to-edge display with super slim bezels.

As for the new features, there are two notable changes that Razer is bringing to the table. Sadly one of those things isn’t a major price drop. As the monitor will retail for $799.99.

The new Razer Raptor Monitor comes with THX-certified visuals

To improve the monitor, the Raptor now comes with THX-certified visuals. What this means according to Razer is that the monitor went through over 400 individual tests to ensure peak clarity and performance.

To the user that means picture quality will be better than the last model. And probably better than some of the competition out there. With this certification the tone, color, and images will be displayed as the creator intended.

So when you’re playing a game and a particular scene is lush with vibrant colors, you’re seeing the visuals as they were intended to be seen by the game’s developers. The resolution is still 2560 x 1440 so nothing has changed there.

However, the Raptor does now feature a faster 165Hz refresh rate. The old Raptor monitor featured a refresh rate of 144Hz. So while not a whole lot slower, it was slower. If you loved the Raptor and can justify the upgrade price, you’ll have a more fluid gameplay experience with the new version.

The all-new Razer Raptor monitor is available from today and you can grab it directly from Razer’s website. It can also be purchased from retailers like Amazon. In addition to the new monitor, Razer is also launching a VESA mount which can be picked up separately if you prefer a mounted setup. This won’t be available until Q3 of 2021, but when it does launch it will retail for $99.99.
