Rise of the Ronin – developers from Team Ninja with a new announcement at State of Play. Time to discuss the gameplay

Team Ninja regularly releases new batches of demos, where they present some elements of their upcoming game. The second larger chapter covers the broadly understood concept fight. Japanese developers had to analyze the various weapons used in that hot period, and at the same time introduce it all in an appropriately credible way into the hands of the ideological parties to the conflict – supporters of the shogunate and its hardened opponents, respectively. Thus, fighting styles are strongly related to a given mentality. And this is just one of the steps.

Another element of shaping this element of the game is the balance of ranged and close-range weapons, both traditional ones and, for example, firearms – after all, the clash of Eastern and Western cultures is also key here. This will allow the player to tailor their approach to their own preferences, combining various variations and combinations of attacks to deplete the enemy’s ki, thus leaving them completely exposed. Importantly, we will encounter various historical figures and then decide whether to get along with them or fight. In the first case, there will be an option to join forces with them, which will introduce quite interesting mechanics thanks to which we will control new companions and even learn some aspects of their style. The counter system also looks promising – it may not be particularly new in itself, but the creators promise exceptional flexibility, allowing you to react to virtually any attack by your opponent.
