Shows Like Dawson’s Creek – 9 Great Teen Dramas To Watch Now

Dawson’s Creek is a teen drama television series about the lives of a close-knit group of friends in the fictional town of Capeside, Massachusetts, from high school to college.

Created by Kevin Williamson, it is one of the most prestigious drama series on television, especially among young audiences.

Set in small Capeside, on the coast of the American state of Massachusetts, Dawson’s Creek tells the story of four teenagers who try to find themselves in this troubled phase of life.

Moving on to the adult world could not be more difficult for the group of adolescents formed by Dawson (James Van Der Beek), Joey (Katie Holmes), Pacey (Joshua Jackson) and Jen (Michelle Williams).

They live with the most different types of problems in their daily lives, which make them grow up and understand better the world they live in.

What Is Dawson’s Creek About?

Dawson Leery is an introspective 15-year-old aspiring filmmaker who has been Joey’s best friend since childhood and routinely comes to her house via a ladder in her bedroom for movies and platonic slumber parties.

Joey is the girl next door that captivates innocent, wide-eyed Dawson, who has a happily-ever-after view of relationships and difficulty dealing with his harsh reality.

Having lost her mother to cancer and whose father is in prison for drug dealing, Joey lives with her older sister Bessie, who runs The Icehouse restaurant.

Dawson works in a video rental shop with his other best friend, Pacey, the typical city bad boy that occasionally picks a fight with Joey.

Pacey is busy having an affair with his maths teacher, struggling with his grades, and falling in love with his best friend’s girl.

In high school and college, Joey and Dawson dance around a growing attraction to each other, interrupted by other serious relationships along the way, including a very earnest tryst between Joey and Pacey.

One of the most dynamic changes is the arrival of Jen, who has moved from New York to Capeside to live with her grandparents.

The series explores the characters’ coming of age, dealing with topics such as first love, loss, class differences, mental health and divorce.

Now each of them needs to decide the direction of their lives. It’s not easy at all, but with love and friendship, that path will be easier to face.
