The businesses of Békés county performed well last year, the region was at the forefront of investments at the national level, according to the TOP100 publication of the Békés County Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in which the data for the year 2022 were compiled.
At the end of September 2022, 56,000 self-employed and 8,000 cooperative entrepreneurs were operating in Békés County. The fact that its approach via the M44 expressway has improved significantly has had a significant impact on the development of the region. An important indicator is that the volume of retail trade increased by 7.3 percent in the first three quarters of 2022 compared to a year earlier. The labor market in the county has also become “tighter”: 59 jobseekers filled 10 vacant positions, 15 fewer than in September 2021.
The publication explains that the economic organizations made new investments worth HUF 120 billion until September 2022; at comparable prices, this was 19 percent more than a year earlier. With such an increase in performance, Békés was at the top of the rankings of the capital and counties. 34 percent of development resources were used in agriculture, 24 percent in manufacturing, and 9.1 percent in transportation and storage.
The value of industrial production was HUF 688 billion in the examined period, which was 1.7 percent of the national output. The industrial performance of the county has been expanding since 2010, the trend was only temporarily interrupted by the coronavirus epidemic. In the first three quarters of 2022, the production of electrical equipment by 86.9 percent; the companies dealing with machinery and machinery equipment produced 39.6 percent more than a year earlier – the chamber pointed out.
In the first three quarters of 2022, the production value of construction industry enterprises based in Békés county and employing at least 5 people was HUF 50.3 billion, which, at comparative prices, was almost the same as the national growth of 3.2 percent, 3.3 percent higher than a year earlier.
The first three TOP companies of Békés County in 2022 were Linamar Hungary Zrt., Gallicoop Zrt. and Guardian Orosháza Kft., according to the summary.
The sales revenue of Linamar, which is engaged in the production of road vehicle parts and is based in Orosház and employs almost 2,500 people, exceeded HUF 60 billion in 2021, which was HUF ten billion more than the year before. Gallicoop, which deals with poultry meat processing, is in second and third place with a net sales revenue of HUF 42.6 billion, and Guardian, a flat glass manufacturer, with HUF 36.7 billion in 2021 net sales revenue.
Also included in the top ten were Hirschmann Car Communication Kft., the manufacturer of broadcast technology equipment, Mondi Békéscsaba Kft., the manufacturer of plastic packaging materials, OI Hungary Kft. Green Divizió Kft. from Orosháza, which deals in poultry processing, while in tenth place is a company from Hunya, the grain, tobacco, seed and fodder wholesaler Bo-Ti Zrt. – the publication reads.
