One of the major star actors of Kollywood, Surya has announced on his social media pages that he has bought a new cricket team based in Chennai. What is the background of this?
The IPL-style T20 Premier League matches have become hugely popular among the masses and become big business. A lot of efforts are being made across the world to go beyond T20 Premier Leagues and have more interesting series. A 100-ball cricket series called ‘The Hundred’ has been introduced in England. A 10-over cricket series called T10 has been introduced in the United Arab Emirates. CCS Sports LLP has launched a series called ISPL T10 in order to introduce T10 cricket in India in this manner.
ISPL stands for Indian Street Premier League. They are going to conduct this series by selecting players who are not star players and who are not getting limelight with good talent at local level. The launch event for the series took place a month and a half ago.
Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the consultant for this series. Ravi Shastri said about this series, “This ISPL will be a series that will give light to many who are running with the dream of cricket. Kudos to the organizers of this series for choosing local talent. I am eager to hear the success stories of the players who will get limelight through this series,” Ravi Shastri said.
The series will also be held at the same ground where regular cricket matches are held. But, only tennis ball will be used in this series. A total of 19 matches will be held from March 2nd to March 9th.
6 teams from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Srinagar are participating in this series.
Amitabh Bachchan bought the Mumbai team, Ram Charan bought the Hyderabad team, Akshay Kumar bought the Srinagar team and Hrithik Roshan bought the Bangalore team. Actor Surya has now bought a Chennai-based team in that line.
