Nagykun-Hús Húsipari és Kereskedelmi Kft. in Kunhegyes, which deals with meat processing and sales, has implemented technological development with the help of a conditionally refundable European Union grant of more than HUF 483.5 million won in the tender of the Economic Development and Innovation Operative Program (GINOP).

As a result of the investment, the company produces pork-based food products that, in addition to substances that support digestion, also contain herbal ingredients that improve the quality of life.

During the project, a plant with a floor area of ​​more than 1,064 square meters was built, i.e. the building for the slicing, packaging and the associated cold store. In addition, several pieces of equipment were purchased for the processing plant, including a flowpack packaging machine, a bacon stringing machine, an ice flake maker, grinder, and foiling equipment. Thanks to the advanced technological solutions, they can produce finished products more efficiently, and they can increase the product range more flexibly in accordance with market needs, they said.

Thanks to the project, the company is expected to retain 168 jobs and create 3-5 new jobs.

According to the data on the company’s website, Nagykun-Hús Kft. was founded in 1992, and its activities include butchering, cutting, chopping, production of stuffed, salted, marinated meat products, as well as production and distribution of edible pork fat. 50 percent of the products sold are preparations, the other 50 percent are beef. The plant has European Union certification.

According to public company data, the net sales revenue of Nagykun-Hús Húsipari és Kereskedelmi Kft. in 2021 was more than HUF 13 billion 862 million, a year earlier it exceeded HUF 11 billion 936 million. The company sells approximately 60 percent domestically, and exports mainly to Romania, Slovakia and the Netherlands. The company’s profit after tax was almost HUF 859 million in 2021, and about HUF 747 million in 2020.
