The Razer Phone Cooler Chroma sports RGB and keeps your phone from overheating – Phandroid

Razer may not be making smartphones any longer, but that doesn’t mean it’s leaving the mobile space altogether. The company already offers a selection of cases along with mobile gaming controllers like the Razer Kishi, Raiju, and Junglecat. But now, there’s a new accessory that feels like it came out of left field.

The Razer Phone Cooler Chroma is a $60 accessory that attaches to your device, providing plenty of RGB and fans to keep your phone from overheating while gaming. There are actually two versions of the Cooler Chroma, one is designed to take advantage of the iPhone’s MagSafe technology, along with another designed for other phones making use of a grip to attach to your phone.

The Cooler Chroma is comprised of seven different pieces:

  • Razer Chroma RGB
  • Cover
  • 7-bladed fan
  • Aluminum heat sink
  • Electronic Peltier Cooling Tile
  • Cooling plate

In terms of the RGB, you won’t get more fps out of your phone, but there are a total of 12 RGB LEDs that can be customized. When it comes to powering the Cooler Chroma, you’ll need to use the included USB-C to USB-C cable that attaches to the bottom of the fan and into your phone. Or, you could use a “compatible power adapter” if you don’t want to use up more battery life on your phone.

Unfortunately, if you use a wide phone, like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, you’re out of luck here. Razer states the non-MagSafe version is compatible with phones ranging from 67-88mm in width. You could use it with the phone folded up, but where’s the fun in that? It might be a better idea to grab something like Anker’s 310 magnetic ring and slap it onto the back of a thin case and grab the MagSafe version instead.
