The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-gen for PC will make more use of Ray Tracing, as indicated directly by NVIDIAIn just a few days, the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will appear on the market, which will receive improved graphical functions as well as support for Ray Tracing. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in a new version will appear on both PC and current-gen consoles. During a recent show, CD Projekt RED pointed to the use of Ray Tracing in the context of global illumination and ambient occlusion. The latest entry from NVIDIA, however, suggests its wider use.

An announcement of the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt appeared on NVIDIA’s website. Interestingly, according to the manufacturer of the graphics chips, the game will make much more use of Ray Tracing on PC than CD Projekt RED revealed.

According information published on the NVIDIA websiteThe PC version of the next-gen The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will support Ray Tracing in a total of four applications: Ray Traced Global Illumination (RTGI), Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion, which aims to improve the shading around light-blocking objects (Ray Traced Ambient Occlusion). ), improved shadows, which with the support of Ray Tracing will be characterized by greater fidelity, transparency and their visibility (Ray Traced Shadows), as well as more refined reflections, e.g. in water or other reflective surfaces (Ray Traced Reflections). CD Projekt RED mentioned only global illumination and ambient occlusion, while reflections were to be based on the improved SSR technique. Perhaps for the PC version Ray Tracing was applied to all four settings, but the studio did not want to share this information during the presentation.

The Witcher Remake will be a fully open-world game, but the premiere will take place later than the debut of The Witcher 4

Of course, NVIDIA also confirms the use of DLSS 3 technology. Owners of GeForce RTX 4000 cards will be able to noticeably increase the number of frames per second in this way. Owners of all GeForce RTX systems will use DLSS 2 with Reflex implemented inside. The game itself is also to offer Ultra + settings, which are characterized by, among others, even more detailed textures, more advanced geometry, improved vegetation and generally better quality of objects both close to the hero and rendered from a distance. The premiere of the next-gen The Witcher 3 will take place on December 14, and the update will be free for everyone who owns the game in libraries.
