This e-boat made the trip from Florida to the Bahamas on a single charge

You can’t complain about the speed of the spectacular watercraft either.

The Canadian Voltari Electric, founded in 2021, recently presented the Voltari 260 named, purely electric motorboat, tuned for performance – it says Electrek. However, the greatest strength of the luxury watercraft is not the range, but the premium design and the electric motor capable of extraordinary performance.

The heart of the Voltari 260 is a 544-kilowatt peak-power electric motor that is capable of 740 horsepower on land. The speed of the boat is contributed by the covering made of carbon fiber material and the hull reminiscent of boats used in competitions.

To demonstrate the reliability of the motorboat, the company’s employees recently undertook a serious challenge: they covered the narrow 150-kilometer distance between Key Largo in Florida and Bimini in the Bahamas on a single charge. This set the record for the longest sea voyage ever made by an electric powerboat on a single charge.

The Voltari 260’s engine is powered by a 142 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, with a top speed on the water of 96 km/h, i.e. a tight 52 knots. By comparison, the speed of an average cruise ship is around 20 knots. Of course, during the record crossing, they traveled significantly slower than this, at a speed of approximately 4.5 knots, so that they could cover the greatest possible distance with the help of the electric motor.

According to Tim Markou, the president of Voltari Electric, the company has gathered a lot of useful experience along the way, which they can use to make even more efficient motorboats in the future. Although the rumor is not about this, we would be curious to see what Voltari’s electric motor would be capable of if it were installed on a hull that practically “flies” above the water – just like A watercraft jointly developed by Polestar and Candela.

As for the price, the Voltari 260 will probably not be a mass product, because one copy costs 450,000 dollars, i.e. 160 million forints.
