Pablo Berger is a Spanish filmmaker who surprised everyone and everyone in 1998 with his short film Motherwhich has already helped him win some awards. In 2003 he did the same but this time with his first feature film, Torremolinos 73with 4 Goya nominations and several international recognitions. Those nominations became awards in 2012 with Snow Whitewhich won no less than 10 statuettes at the Spanish festival and represented Spain at the Oscars that year. Abra Cadabra (2017), his latest film to date, was nominated for 8 Goyas.
Now it’s the turn of his debut in animation scam Robot dreamsa touching story about friendship that begins when a lonely dog decides to build himself a robot with which he will live unforgettable moments until one day it breaks down on the beach and DOG will have to fix it, although things it won’t take long for them to go wrong.
Quite a love letter to the power of friendship but also to the New York of the 80 which was Berger’s home for a decade and which left an indelible mark on him.
