India created history by winning the Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in South Africa.
The Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup has just been held for the first time. The Indian team, which had played well since the start of the series, was facing the England team in the final. The Indian team has won easily while expecting to face a tough challenge against the strong England team.
Indian captain Shebali Verma won the toss and elected to bowl. England batting first. Due to the excellent bowling of the Indian team, the England team’s batsmen were reduced to few runs. England were all out for 68 runs in 17.1 overs. All the 6 players who bowled for the Indian team took wickets. The Indian team started the chase towards the lowest target and reached the target in 14 overs. Captain Shebali scored 15 runs, Soumya Tiwari scored 24 runs and Trisha scored 24 runs to help the Indian team in a successful chase. Due to their excellent performance, the Indian team has created a new history by winning the first ever World Cup series.
In 2007, the Indian team led by Dhoni created history by winning the newly introduced first T20 World Cup.
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah has announced that a felicitation ceremony will be held for the World Cup winning Indian team at the Modi Stadium in Gujarat on February 1.
