Abbott Elementary is the hit comedy that swept the awards season for creator and actor Quinta Brunson.

Based on her own mother’s career as a school teacher, Brunson also set the hit sitcom in her home town of Philadelphia.

With sky high ratings for the first season, ABC quickly renewed the show for a second, increasing the episode count from 13 to 22.

Where Is Abbott Elementary Filmed?

While the show is set in a fictional school based in Philadelphia, Abbott Elementary is actually filmed at Warner Bros. studio set in Burbank, California.

In a recent interview with Janelle James, she even explained how in the episode that reveals the new school billboard (with her on it), it wasn’t shot outside.

What you see is a fake sky, fake lighting and everything designed to look like it’s outside. But it isn’t.

Like most sitcoms, the show is studio based, although in Season 2 they actually did film one episode in Philadelphia.

It was for the season 2 finale, and it took place in The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

How Many Seasons Does Abbott Elementary Have?

Currently there are only two seasons of the show, the first with 13 episodes, the second with 22.

However, ABC has already confirmed that Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a THHIRD season.

As it forms part of the Fall schedule for the Network, it will return to our screens in September 2023.
