Your Google Home Routines will soon have the option for delayed starts – Phandroid

One of the features of Google Home is that you can get Google Assistant to create Routines. This means that at a specific time in the day or with a specific command, you can perform multiple actions at once, which will save you a lot of time and make your life more efficient.

But what if you don’t want your bedroom lights to come on immediately, or you don’t want your robot vacuum cleaner to start cleaning straightaway? According to a sighting on Reddit, it seems that Google will help you with that by introducing delays. What this means is that once the Routine begins, you can program it to start performing the actions a bit later.

This means that the Routine has already begun, but nothing will actually happen until a preset time passes. So, for example if you just woke up and you don’t want your coffee maker to start brewing until you’re actually ready, you can program a delay so that you can give yourself time to wash up and get dressed, that way you’ll have a nice hot cup of coffee waiting instead of a lukewarm one.

You can also use the delay to delay the start of your robot vacuum cleaner, where instead of starting cleaning while you’re home, you can delay it to start until you’ve left the house. This delay feature doesn’t seem to be available to all users yet, so you’ll probably have to wait for it to arrive for you if you don’t see it in your app.
