Flagship phones are usually priced pretty high, but in return, customers get brand new designs that use higher-end materials, the latest hardware, and sometimes even exclusive software features.

The good news is that if you are looking forward to the Samsung Galaxy S23 but dread paying the “flagship tax”, then you might be interested to learn that the base Galaxy S23 model could actually end up being cheaper than its predecessor.

This is according to a tweet by tipster @chunvn8888 who claims that to reduce the price of the phone, Samsung might end up going with a cheaper/lower-end haptic feedback motor. This means that vibrations on the phone could be less strong compared to the rest of the lineup, but the upside is that this could potentially result in a cheaper phone.

Of course, there’s no guarantee that this will see a reduction in price. It is possible that Samsung could opt to use lower-end components but maintain the price (and thus increase their profit margins), so we’ll just have to wait and see. The Galaxy S23 series is expected to be officially announced in the early part of 2023, so we have a few more months until the official unveiling.
