Ahead of release Overwatch 2 company Blizzard told about how it plans to provide a fair and positive gaming experience and counter toxicity and abuse. The set of measures was called Defense Matrix, “Protection Matrix”.

Starting October 4, all players on all platforms, including consoles, will need to link a unique mobile phone number to their account in order to launch Overwatch 2. Battle.net. However, you will not be able to use certain types of numbers, including prepaid and VOIP numbers.

SMS Protect will also need to be activated by those players who have a boxed version of the original Overwatch.

Voice chats will be monitored in Overwatch 2, and speech will be automatically transcribed to text and checked for insults and obscene language using converters. Reporting disruptive behavior in voice chat is a good idea as all entries are deleted after 30 days.

For new players, certain modes and heroes will be initially closed, as well as other restrictions will be introduced in order to gradually adapt to the game. It will take approximately 100 matches to unlock all of the original Overwatch heroes. To access the competitive mode, you need to win 50 matches in the quick game mode.

From all Overwatch 2 modes, the frames marking the level of the player will be removed, and the skill levels of the participants will not be shown before competitive matches. And now only the players of their team will be allowed to praise.

Also, the general chat will be completely removed from the game. The developers decided that it does not bring anything other than toxicity, and the main mechanics of the game will not suffer from its absence.

Overwatch 2 enters Early Access on October 4th. The game will be available for free on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.
