Microsoft has a big ol’ update for Xbox owners for May. Including an improved Quick Resume that beefs up the feature’s value. Microsoft doesn’t state in its blog post when the update is ready to install. But there’s a good chance that you will see it available for installation the next time you power up your console.

So, if you own an Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, make sure to give your console some love and power it up today. The update may be sitting there waiting for you. And no one likes to be made to wait.

The May update for Xbox adds a “Quick Resume” label for your games

Yes, Quick Resume games now have a label. Talk about nifty. The major benefit of Quick Resume is that you can save multiple games in a rested or paused state so you can come back to them later whenever you want.

The problem this poses, is that some users could end up saving way too many games in Quick Resume to remember which ones are open and which ones aren’t. Now with the new Quick Resume label on games, your library can be organized to show which games are currently saved in Quick Resume.

On top of that, the label is also applied to games that support the feature. So even if you’ve never used it, you’ll know which games you can use it with going forward. It’s really no surprise that Microsoft is adding this in. Quick Resume is one of the headlining features of its latest console.

And this brings more attention to it. The update also includes support for passthrough audio for media apps like Disney+ and Plex.

Parents are getting tools for multiplayer game restrictions

Multiplayer games are a lot of fun. Especially these days. They can also be inappropriate for kids. Parents can now set restrictions on multiplayer games following the May Xbox update.

Specifically, they can restrict their kids from playing multiplayer on certain titles. And if a game is entirely multiplayer, then the restriction simply blocks access to that title altogether. If this is enabled and a kid tries to access the game, they’re then told access is restricted and are prompted to ask to play.

Additionally, Microsoft is adding a new dynamic background called ‘Motes’ which is available as soon as the update is installed. The update should be live today for those that have an Xbox Series X / S.
