Razer this week announced a brand-new PC soundbar for gamers called the Leviathan V2 X, and it promises to leverage some of Razer’s best audio tech to deliver “powerful and immersive sound.” All for under $100. Making this a significantly more affordable option than the Leviathan V2.
For those unfamiliar, Razer launched the Leviathan V2 back in April of this year at a price of $249.99. As a follow-up to its predecessor, the Leviathan V2 added Razer’s signature Chroma RGB lighting and THX Spatial Audio. It also adjusted the frequency response to between 45Hz and 20Hz. Instead of the 180Hz – 20Hz found on the original.
The Razer Leviathan V2 X shaves off a few of those more robust features to offer a more affordable and compact option. It costs just $99 and for all intents and purposes, will probably provide you with a solid audio experience for all your games and entertainment. Especially if you’re already used to the audio experience of what the company offers in this price range.
The Razer Leviathan V2 X is a space (and money) saving sound machine
We’ve been impressed by a number of Razer’s audio products before. Even some of the less expensive options. That being said, there shouldn’t be any illusions here. You will most certainly get a higher quality audio experience with the more expensive Leviathan V2.
However, it’s hard to ignore the value proposition of the V2 X model. For one, it saves you $150. And it saves quite a bit on space. It’s a compact desktop form factor and only measures in at 15.8-inches in length compared to the 19.7-inches on the V2. The V2 X also only has a width of 2.8-inches and a height of 3-inches. Whereas the V2 is 3.6-inches wide and 3.3-inches tall.
You also don’t have a subwoofer to contend with. Which means more room below your desk. In short this is probably a good option for those who want less clutter around their gaming setup.
Additionally, the V2 X connects with a single USB-C cable. So you get less wiring to mess with as that single cable delivers both power and audio. For controls, there’s a series of buttons on top for power, volume control, Bluetooth, and swapping sources. And you can adjust the Chroma lighting through the Razer Chroma RGB app on your smartphone. Though you may also be able to adjust lighting through the Synapse 3 software too.
When you get right down to it, for $100, Razer seems to be offering a compelling audio option for gamers with this soundbar.
