Riot Games and Epic Games announced today that League of Legends, and some of Riot’s other popular titles would be available to download from the Epic Games Store. The partnership between the two companies provides the potential for a large influx of players into Riot Games’ list of available titles.

It also has potential to see a big push for users to start using the Epic Games Store launcher. Players will still need to use the Riot Client to install and play games like League Of Legends. However, players won’t have to download the client directly. Instead, they can click to download the games from Epic, which then installs the Riot Client onto the player’s PC.

From there, users can then choose which games from Riot to install. If you have neither client installed, then it’s certainly easier to go direct to Riot. But if you already have the Epic Games Store launcher, then this provides easier access as you won’t have to navigate to the Riot Client landing page.

League Of Legends, Valorant, and more are available from Epic

When players now launch the Epic Games Store, they should see the availability of four Riot titles. Including League Of Legends, Valorant, Legends Of Runeterra, and Teamfight Tactics.

Clicking on any of these games will install the Riot Client. Which means there’s no need to click on all of them inside the Epic Games Store. Once the Riot Client is installed, all four games can be installed from that client, which is the new unified client Riot released earlier this year to house all of its IPs. Players will then launch the Riot Client every time thereafter to launch whichever games they’re planning to play.

A big boost for both Epic and Riot

Both companies stand to benefit from this partnership. And both companies are arguably huge. Epic is behind the massively popular Fortnite and Riot is of course behind the massively popular League Of Legends. Which has since spun off several games in Riot’s portfolio, including League Of Legends: Wild Rift, Riot’s first mobile game.

That being said, Riot likely doesn’t need to have its games displayed in the Epic Games Store. But it isn’t going to hurt. And will no doubt have some impact on new players perhaps giving the titles a try.
