There was quite a lot of buzz about Anbernic last year. The manufacturer every now and then presents new (more or less successful) devices designed mainly for retro games. Only two months after the debut of the RG35XX model, a trailer of the upcoming console marked RG405M was shown. This time we will also be able to count on an IPS display and support for a large number of emulators. From Gameboy and PSP to PlayStation 2.

Anbernic has just presented a new model of the retro gaming console RG405M. On board we will find a quite efficient processor and an IPS touch panel.

We already know quite a lot about the console itself. Visually speaking, the Anbernic RG405M looks quite classic while reminiscent of the better equipped RG505. The equipment is powered by the octa-core Unisoc Tiger T618 processor known from the previously described Retroid Pocket Flip console. In combination with the Mali G52 graphics chip, we will be able to play even titles from the aforementioned PS2 or Wii. The display is a touchscreen IPS panel with a diagonal of 4 “and a resolution of 640 x 480 px. In this aspect, it is quite standard. The whole thing is complemented by 4 GB of LPDDR4X RAM with a clock frequency of 1866 MHz. The built-in memory is most likely eMMC with a capacity of 128 GB. can expand it by another 512 GB using the memory card slot.

The equipment is also equipped with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity standards. A decent 4500 mAh battery was also used here. It is also worth mentioning that the joysticks use a Hall sensor, so we should not worry about their lifespan. There is also a 6-axis gyroscope that will work in many games. As in the OLED version, the system supports OTA updates. As Android 12 is responsible for it, we have much more entertainment options – streaming, games in .apk format and access to many other emulators. Moving on to the unknowns: neither the dimensions of the device nor, more importantly, the price and release date were given. It can be expected that the debut will take place at any moment, as in the case of existing equipment from Anbernic. But for now, you have to be patient.
