Korean content absolutely blew up when Netflix released Squid Game in 2021. Now I know there are fans out there who have always known how good Korean shows are, but for a lot of people, this was the first time they’d dipped their toe in the K-drama world.

From mega hits like sweet home, All of Us Are DeadHellbound and Extraordinary Attorney WooNetflix then decided to try out a bit of competitive reality tv and we got the superb Physical: 100 in January 2023.

I absolutely loved it and the fact that not all episodes dropped at the same time had me hooked week after week. So you can imagine how delighted I was with the announcement that Physical: 100 season 2 is on the way!!

Get those protein shakes out because the series is bulking up for Season 2. So the big question now is when is it coming to Netflix??

Physical: 100 Season 2 Release Date

Despite being aired in January 2023, it took Netflix nearly six months to officially renew Physical: 100. Now that doesn’t mean deals hadn’t been agreed in the background so the crew could cast and design new challenges.

That said, even though it’s not a scripted show and filming takes place over a much shorter period of time, Netflix won’t want to rush the production.

In fact, I would say that they are aiming for a slot around the same time again. So expect to see Physical 100 season 2 on Netflix in January 2024.

As always, as soon as we have more info on the exact release date, we will let you know.

Physical: 100 Season 2 What Happens?

Physical: 100 became one of Netflix’s most popular non-English unscripted programs ever. And like so many renewals, the aim will be to make it better than ever.

Netflix have announced that while the set in the first season spanned two entire soccer fields, the set for Physical: 100 season 2 will be even bigger.

Like the first season, a new batch of 100 contestants will enter the arena and compete to be the last one standing. And just like last season, anyone, regardless of age, sex, nationality or weight class can win the hefty cash prize and be awarded the title of having the “ideal physique.”

Director Jang Ho-gi said “We decided to retain the essence of the show—finding the perfect physique— while introducing fresh elements.

“This is our way of expressing our gratitude to the fans of the show.”

The plan is to create even crazier challenges and quests for the contestants, to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. And one of those will definitely be me.

Honestly though, I’m not sure how they can beat the excitement of the moving sand challenge or the difficulty of the team ship moving challenge. But I’m willing to be proven wrong!

Who Won Season 1 Of Physical 100?

The fascinating thing about Physical 100 was how quickly our perception of strength changed so quickly. At first glance it’s hard to see anybody beating the likes of Jo Jin-hyeong who held a 50kg atlas ball on his shoulder for hours.

But Physical 100 isn’t just about pure brown. It helps, but it’s not everything. Agility, endurance and determination, when combined, can and did produce an overall winner who simply excelled in all areas.

And that winner was CrossFit athlete and snowboarder Woo Jin-yong who beats out the other 99 contestants and won 300 million won (roughly $230,000) as the last man standing.

Not knowing exactly what the quests would entail, Jin-yong recently told Netflix Tudum that to get in shape he felt it would be advantageous to in peak physical condition.

His training routine consisted of CrossFit’s “Murph” workout of the day which includes running 1 mile wearing a 20-pound weight vest, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups and 300 squats, then run another mile. (I’m exhausted just thinking about it!)

It clearly served him well and he walked away the winner. So who will join him and reign victorious in Physical 100 season 2? We have to wait to find out!

How Many Episodes Of Physical 100?

Physical 100 aired with nine episodes. The first two introduced us the 100 contestants as the ‘hanging challenge’ began – the aim of which was to rank the contenstants from 1 to 100.

Once ranked, the first quest began in the Death Match Challenge which saw the players go one-on-one to gain possession of a ball. The player with possession of the ball at the 3-minute mark moved on to the next Quest. The other contestant was eliminated.

So instantly we were down to 50% and from there things really got moving. It was the sand moving challenge and the only female team leader, Jang eun sil, took her team to victory, much to the delight of fans who knew how underestimated they were.

Then came the revival challenge which gave five eliminated contestants a chance ot get back in the game. They then returned, and the 30 remaining players formed three teams for the ship moving quest.

With just one more quest, our 100 had been reduced to just five. They competed in four games, with one contestant being eliminated in each game. That left Woo Jin-yong and Jung Hae-min to battle it out in the rope pulling contest, with Woo Jin-yong taking the win.
