Parenthood is an American family comedy-drama series developed by Jason Katims based on the 1989 film of the same name.

The show is about the Braverman clan, composed of an older couple, their four children and their families, and provides an intense and entertaining family drama.

What Is Parenthood About?

The Bravermans are a family like any other, facing several problems and obstacles, but can always count on the support of each member to overcome the challenges.

Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille Braverman (Bonnie Bedelia) are the foundation of the family. In 46 years of marriage, and despite their own marital problems, they have managed to keep the family intact, overcoming all the issues and challenges that life has brought them.

The eldest son, Adam (Peter Krause), is the most promising of them and his parents’ right-hand man when it comes to sorting out the family’s tribulations. Besides managing a shoe company, he has a supportive wife, three children and a beautiful home.

Sarah (Lauren Graham) is a single mother with two teenage children, Amber and Drew, who decides to move back to her hometown and be closer to her large family. With her rebellious daughter and sensitive son, she finds herself destabilized and trying to start her life over.

Her younger sister is Julia (Erika Christensen), a battling woman struggling to keep her job as a lawyer, her activities as a mother and support for her husband, who works from home. Married to Joel (Sam Jaeger), they have a daughter, Sydney, and a son, Victor, whom they adopted after considering themselves unable to conceive a second child.

The youngest of the family is Crosby (Dax Shepard), a happy young bachelor living on his boat who will need to face his fears of love commitments when an old passion returns in his life.

Despite the difficulties, everyone’s togetherness is what helps them overcome the challenges while raising their children and starting their lives over again as often as necessary.
