Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a 2022 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther. It is the sequel to Black Panther (2018) and the 30th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Directed by Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole, Wakanda Forever sees the leaders of Wakanda fight to protect their nation in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

The movie premiered on October 26, 2022, and was released in the United States on November 11, 2022. It received two nominations at the 80th Golden Globe Awards and six at the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards. To date, it has grossed over $822 million worldwide, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of 2022.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re probably wondering: where to watch Wakanda Forever?

I have good and bad news; sadly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will not be appearing on Netflix anytime soon.

However, the good news is that the highly anticipated sequel will be available to stream on Disney+ as of February 1st 2023.

Following the tragic and untimely death of Chadwick Boseman, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever continues his beloved character’s story.

And fans will soon be able to rewatch the film in all its splendour when it debuts on Disney Plus on February 1st, 2023.

So make sure that you sign up for Disney+ for a small initial fee, and this will give you access to Wakanda Forever and all the other great content that the streaming platform has to offer.

What Is Wakanda Forever About?

Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (Marija Abney) fight to protect the kingdom of Wakanda from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.

As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for their nation.

At the dawn of King T’Challa’s death, invading forces from around the world target Wakanda’s vibranium. Unleashing chaos, it is the duty of Shuri, M’Baku, Nakia and Okoye to defend the nation.

Especially when a mysterious Mexican civilization emerges from the depths of the sea.

Critical Reception

Rotten Tomatoes reports an approval rating of 84% based on 414 reviews. However, the audience loved the movie just a little bit more. They have given Wakanda Forever an Audience Score of 94% based on over 10,000 ratings.

On IMDB.com, the rating currently stands at an average of 7.2 from over 132K users. Interestingly, that is slightly less than the original Black Panther which movie has a rating of 7.3.

On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 67 out of 100, based on 62 critics, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.

Overall the movie was well received, with many praising Angela Bassett for her standout performance. However, others have pointed out that this movie struggles under the weight of expectations.

That said, it is a fitting tribute to the legacy of Chadwick Boseman, and Ryan Coogler did a great job considering some of the limitations he faced when making it.
